Question 1

How much gravel will I need?

Accepted Answer

Your gravel total is based on the space being covered and the depth you need. As a general guide, one ton covers approximately 100 square feet when spread 2-inch deep. Driveways are typically placed at 4 to 6 inches. Use the free gravel calculator for an estimate. Enter the project length, width, and depth to see how many tons to order.

Question 2

How much material may I order?

Accepted Answer

Order a single ton for a patio or garden path, or multi-ton loads for driveway and construction projects. At a 2-inch depth, one ton of gravel covers roughly 100 square feet. For help estimating the amount, try our gravel calculator or call (605) 525-9259.

Question 3

What is the delivery process?

Accepted Answer

Dump trucks bring every order to your property. The driver dumps the material in your driveway, yard, or another accessible spot you specify. The truck backs to the drop point, lifts its bed, and releases the aggregate in a pile. You can then spread it with a rake or shovel, or use equipment such as a skid steer on bigger jobs.

Question 4

Must I be present for delivery?

Accepted Answer

You generally do not have to be there when the material arrives. Before the delivery date, mark the dump spot clearly with cones, flags, or stakes. The driver may call if access is not possible or the placement area is unclear. Give us any site-access concerns or delivery directions when you order so we can pass them along to the driver.

Question 5

When will delivery arrive?

Accepted Answer

Depending on product availability and location, many orders arrive in as fast as 2 business days. Delivery near metro areas may be sooner, while remote and rural addresses can take a little longer. Your order confirmation email will include an estimated delivery window. If you need material for a certain date, contact us before ordering.

Question 6

Which gravel should I choose for a driveway?

Accepted Answer

Crushed stone or crusher run, sometimes called dense grade aggregate, is recommended for driveways. Its rough, angular pieces compact and bind together for a steady surface under vehicle traffic, which helps through deep frost and freeze-thaw cycling. Driveway selections often include 3/4-inch crushed stone and 1/2-inch crusher run. Smooth, rounded products such as pea gravel are not recommended because tires can move them and they do not compact as well. View the product catalog for material choices available near you.

Question 7

How do pea gravel and crushed stone differ?

Accepted Answer

Pea gravel is made up of smooth, naturally rounded stones, generally 1/4 to 1/2 inch across. It is often used in paths, garden beds, dog runs, and decorative areas because it is comfortable underfoot. Crushed stone is made by breaking larger rock, leaving angular edges that compact and lock together. That makes it a better fit for driveways, foundations, drainage, and weight-bearing work. Choose crushed stone where the material needs to stay put under weight. Pea gravel suits decorative and lower-traffic spaces.

Question 8

Can you deliver to my location?

Accepted Answer

South Dakota delivery coverage includes major metro areas, suburbs, and many rural locations. Enter the delivery address at checkout to see if service is available there. For a remote location or if coverage is uncertain, call (605) 525-9259 to check availability.

Question 9

What happens if I order too much or too little?

Accepted Answer

Material left over from an order stays on your property, as excess material cannot be picked up after delivery. It can still be used for low spots, garden borders, or walkways. If the order is too small, place another order for a second delivery. Check the gravel calculator before ordering to reduce the chance of either issue. Ordering about 10% above the calculated amount helps account for ground-level variation and compaction.

Question 10

Can one order include different materials?

Accepted Answer

Each order contains one product type. Materials travel by dump truck from the supplier, so different products cannot be combined in transit. For projects needing separate materials, such as crushed stone beneath a driveway and pea gravel on a walkway, place an order for each product. Delivery is free with every order, with no added delivery cost for multiple deliveries.

Question 11

How are prices set?

Accepted Answer

Your price depends on the material, order quantity, and delivery address. Prices may vary by region. Website pricing includes free delivery.

Question 12

Which payment types can I use?

Accepted Answer

For online orders, we take major credit and debit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. Payment is handled through our encrypted checkout system. Cash, checks, and purchase orders are not accepted online. To discuss special payment needs for a large commercial order, call (605) 525-9259.

Question 13

What is the refund policy?

Accepted Answer

Cancel before an order is dispatched for delivery and a full refund can be issued. Refunds are generally unavailable after bulk aggregate has been loaded for delivery or delivered to your property, since it cannot be returned. If the material is incorrect or there is a significant shortage, contact us right away at (605) 525-9259. See the refund policy page for full details.

Question 14

How can I figure gravel for my project?

Accepted Answer

Measure the length, width, and planned depth of the coverage area. Multiply those measurements for cubic feet, and divide the result by 27 for cubic yards. Gravel weighs approximately 1.4 tons per cubic yard, so multiply the cubic-yard amount by 1.4 to determine tonnage. You can skip those calculations with the free gravel calculator. Add your measurements to see the tons required and the cost.

Question 15

What gravel sizes are offered?

Accepted Answer

Gravel sizes are generally identified by stone diameter. Available sizes commonly include 1/4-inch (pea gravel), 1/2-inch, 3/4-inch, 1-inch, 1-1/2 inch, and 2-inch stone. Small material, including pea gravel, is used for decorative areas, patios, and walkways. A medium option such as 3/4-inch crushed stone is often used on driveways, parking areas, and landscaping. For drainage, French drains, and erosion control, 1-1/2 inch and 2-inch stone are common choices. Check the product page for sizes and types offered for delivery near you.
