- Crushed stone
Once #8 Crushed Stone is placed in a drainage or hardscape detail, its limited fine material helps the layer remain free-draining. The crushed stone is small enough for paver base and joint use, while its open character also suits drainage applications and concrete mixes.
East River glacial till and West River gumbo can each hold water around building pads and approaches. Spring moisture and deep frost make it important to give water a planned path through the project. Keep #8 Crushed Stone in the designated drainage layer or paver detail over the prepared support beneath it, instead of using it as a substitute for the main base on a farm road or cabin approach.

Customer Reviews
Worth the extra wheelbarrow trips
Bought five tons of number 8 for pipe bedding on a drainage fix at our place outside Sisseton. Stone itself is clean and uniform, easy to shovel and spread by hand over a weekend.

Pipe bedding holds through winter freeze
Our crew handles storm drain work around Rapid City, and number 8 became our go to after the quarry stone we used before clogged the perforations with fines. Fourteen tons went out to a subdivision job on the west side where we laid four hundred feet of pipe through rocky Black Hills soil. The tri axle made three trips over two days, staging where our foreman marked each time, never blocking the cul de sac during school pickup. Backfilled and inspected in November, and after a full winter of freeze and thaw the trench line hasn't settled an inch.

Happy With My Order
We resurfaced the gravel lot behind our shop in Huron using number 8 from South Dakota Rock Supply as the topcoat layer before a chip seal contractor came through later in the summer. Six tons covered it evenly and customers stopped complaining about potholes catching their tires near the entrance.

Happy With My Order
First house with actual yard space and we ordered three tons of number 8 for a walkway base between the garage and the garden in Milbank. Material spread easy and drains well after rain, no puddling on the path since.
